Catamarans to Comino
A Comino Blue Lagoon cruise by catamaran is a slower, more social day than the fast boats: music on deck, swim stops and, on one of the two, lunch and an open bar. Here is what each price covers, where you swim, and how both compare with two cheaper boats.

Quick answer
The short answer. For lunch and drinks in the price, the Comino Blue Lagoon cruise to book is the 7-hour catamaran from Sliema at $100 per person. For a cheaper day in the water, the Bugibba catamaran costs $62 per person for 5 to 6 hours; the barbecue and cocktails are bought on board. Want Gozo too, or a group of ten? Two boats further down do that for less.
Four boats, side by side
All four prices are per person; each cell says only what the listing says.
| Cruise | Price | What the price covers | Stops | Length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beaches and bays catamaran, Bugibba | $62 per person | Music, sun loungers, nets; barbecue and cocktails extra | Blue Lagoon, then one or two bays | 5–6 hours |
| Catamaran with lunch and open bar, Sliema | $100 per person | Buffet lunch, open bar, music | Swim stops in the bays, the Blue Lagoon if the weather allows | 7 hours |
| Big boat with a slide, Sliema or Bugibba | $34 per person | 10-metre slide, deck chairs, live guide; cocktails extra | Sea caves, Blue Lagoon 1.5 hours, Gozo about 3 hours, Crystal Lagoon | 4–7 hours |
| Small boat for up to 10, Qawra | $56 per person | Snorkelling gear, shade, toilet, fresh-water shower | Caves, Crystal Lagoon, Blue Lagoon 1 hour 15 minutes, Mġarr ix-Xini | 3–4 hours |
The Bugibba catamaran
Five or six hours from St Paul's Bay, with the Blue Lagoon first.
The beaches and bays catamaran leaves Bugibba in St Paul's Bay and costs $62 per person for 5 to 6 hours, depending on the option; it is rated 4.7 from 6,933 reviews. This is the Comino Blue Lagoon cruise for a party at sea: dance music, a cocktail bar, sun loungers and the catamaran nets to lie on.
The Blue Lagoon is the first of 2 or 3 stops. The boat stays slightly outside the lagoon, and you climb into the sea down one of three ladders. The next stops depend on the sea that day: often Crystal Lagoon, or the bay below Popeye Village.
The barbecue is optional and paid for on board: chicken kebabs, a salad, bread and one drink. And the catamaran never stops on land, so this is a day in the water, not a walk on Comino.
From the water
Boats moored off Comino, and a possible stop on the Bugibba catamaran.
A large tour boat and smaller boats in turquoise water, umbrellas on the rocks.
The film-set houses above their bay, one of the possible stops from Bugibba.
The Sliema catamaran
Seven hours from Sliema, with the meal and the drinks paid for.
The catamaran with lunch and open bar is a large sailing catamaran that leaves Sliema at 10:30am and is back at about 5:30pm, for $100 per person; it is rated 4.5 from 1,227 reviews. This is the Comino Blue Lagoon cruise with the day planned for you: a buffet lunch at one of the swim stops, and an open bar with beer, wine, soft drinks and water.
There is no fixed route: the crew picks the bays by the weather and visits the Blue Lagoon when conditions permit. After lunch the music goes up and the deck becomes a dance floor. There are toilets on board, and the hosts speak English, Italian, French and Spanish. It is the Blue Lagoon cruise Malta has on our list for people who want lunch and drinks in the price.
What the price covers
From the two catamaran listings.
A buffet lunch, then beer, wine, soft drinks and water.
Both are bought on board; neither is part of the $62.

In the water
Since May 2025 you need a pass to step ashore at the Blue Lagoon. Book it in advance on blcomino.com and pick a time slot that fits your boat; the number of passes each day is limited. Stay on the boat and swim from it, and you need none. That holds for any Malta Blue Lagoon tour.
On a Comino Blue Lagoon cruise from Bugibba the boat never lands, so no pass is needed. The Comino Island Blue Lagoon is the shallower of the two lagoons: that listing calls Crystal Lagoon much deeper and good for snorkelling round the caves. The Sliema listing does not say whether guests go ashore. If the beach is the point of your Blue Lagoon day trip, ask first and get the pass.
Before you book
Answer these and the choice is usually clear.
Then the Sliema catamaran. On the Bugibba one you buy food on board.
Book the landing pass. The Bugibba catamaran never stops on land.
Neither catamaran listing mentions Gozo. The big boat with a slide gives about 3 hours there.
Both catamarans play music for dancing. The small boat from Qawra takes up to 10 guests.
Catamaran or boat?
The big boat with a slide costs $34 per person and has the most reviews on our list: 7,634, rated 4.7. It is a Blue Lagoon boat tour with a 10-metre slide, deck chairs and a live guide, with 1.5 hours at the Blue Lagoon, about 3 on Gozo and Crystal Lagoon on the way back. Hannah from the United Kingdom: «the fact that the boat had a slide really sold it to us.» As a Gozo Comino and Blue Lagoon cruise in one day, it costs just over half the Bugibba catamaran.
For a Blue Lagoon day tour in a small group, the small boat from Qawra takes up to 10 guests for 3 to 4 hours at $56 per person, rated 4.9 from 857 reviews, with 1 hour 15 minutes at the Blue Lagoon. Gianna from Ireland: «I knew a smaller group would be the best choice.»

Our verdict
Book the Sliema catamaran if you want the day looked after: $100 per person buys 7 hours, a buffet lunch and an open bar. Book the Bugibba catamaran at $62 per person to pay less and buy food on board. Both make the Comino Blue Lagoon cruise a social day at sea; for Gozo or a small group, take one of the boats above.
Compare with the other boat trips
Our top pick across the site is the boat and bus day to Gozo and Comino, $50 per person for 7.5 hours: a boat from Sliema to Gozo, a bus to Victoria and about 90 minutes at the Blue Lagoon. All eleven Comino boats are side by side in our full list; for an evening on the water, see our sunset guide.
